Diesel dump trucks are typically used to transport open-pit minerals. Due to sharp increase in the cost of diesel fuel (and tendency for further price increases) and low cost of electricity, it is becoming advisable to convert dump trucks to electric traction using trolley networks and digital traction substations. Due to the large difference between the cost of diesel fuel and kW/h rate, payback time of this system is currently less than 1 year (cost of electricity taken from projects for 2018 is from 1.5-2.2 rubles/kWh, Fuel 46-48 rubles/liter.).

• Most effective use of the system is on uphill sections of the route on the way to unloading, where the greatest fuel consumption occurs.
• Figure shows the following example: dump trucks are moving loaded and on uphill sections on the way to unloading.
• System allows for a significant increase in the speed of movement on these sections.
• System is recommended for installation only on straight sections (without holes, potholes, etc. ).


• Power transmission is carried out by 2 pantographs from the DC contact network
